  • Les Dakens, Director
    Les has been recognized for his leadership in developing best practices in Human Resources. Recently retired from CN Rail, Les has established a human resources consulting practice to work with Human Resources executives and with the Human Resource Committees of Corporate Boards.

    Les coaches HR executives with their HR strategy, leadership skills and with helping them with the execution of critical tactical initiatives. He has an ability to develop long term HR strategies to support business imperatives. Since he has worked with many CEOs during his career, Les is able to provide insightful recommendations for strategic HR opportunities. When working with the Human Resources Committee of the Board, Les is able to assist directors in the assessment of executive talent and propose solutions for critical executive development situations. His direct experience in CEO succession planning has proven useful in Board discussions. Les is on the Boards of the Zircadium Corporation, Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, Marine Heritage Society and the Lake of Bays Association. He is a graduate of the ICD’s Directors Education Program. He is a faculty member of the Directors College at the Conference Board of Canada.

    Les has written two successful business books: Switchpoints, Culture Change on the Fast Track to Business Success and Employee Performance Scorecards. He has also written articles on CEO succession planning, executive coaching, culture change and leadership strategies for the Institute of Corporate Directors, Financial Post, Human Resources Professional Association and the Canadian Human Resources Reporter. He has made numerous presentations at the Conference Board of Canada, HRPA, SCNetwork and BNN TV. Les has worked in senior executive Human Resources roles at CN, H.J.Heinz and Cadbury Schweppes. He is a graduate with a BA degree from York University.

  • Mike Wilson, Director
    Mike enjoyed a successful career in the Forest Products Industry for 27 years, managing the purchasing, sales and coordination of inventory for large public companies as well as, his own privately-held businesses. A true entrepreneur and innovator, Mike became the first independent MSR (machine stress rated) lumber producer in Canada in 1990 when he formed Great Lakes MSR Lumber Limited. Mike’s entrepreneurial spirit has allowed him to create new markets and grow old ones with his relational approach to business. He has imported and exported products around the world and is very interested in connecting people in the Global market.

    Born in Toronto and married with three daughters, Mike is involved with several charity Boards with the intention of “helping others enjoy the ride”. Mike believes wholeheartedly in building a team and focusing on the strengths of the team players
